National record bettered in S Zone Athletics

As many as 11 meet records, including one of national triple jump in U-18 boys category, were improved on penultimate day of the 21st South Zone National Athletics Championship here today.

improved on penultimate day of the 21st South Zone National Athletics Championship here today. Kerala`s P Pranav cleared a distance of 15.45mt eclipsing Neeraj Mishra`s record of 15.36mt in the triple jump. Hosts Kerala is leading the tally with 36 gold, 28 silver and 25 bronze after completion of 48 events. Kerala are closely followed by Tamil Nadu with 30 gold, 29 silver and 32 bronze, while Karnataka comes third with 8 gold, 13 silver and 14 bronze. Besides Pranav, K Subhashini (TN) in U-14 shotput, Aswathy Mohanan (Ker) in U-18 400m, T Manish (TN) in U-18 Javelin Throw, Dija K C (Ker) in U-20 Pole Vault, A Pavithran (TN) in U-14 100m, Nikhil Neethin (Ker) in U-14 shotput, M P Mohankumar (TN) in U-16 100m, M Ratheshkumar (TN) in U-18 110m hurdles and Rakesh Babu A V (Ker) in U-20 triple jump were the others to set meet records.
