‘New DGHC Administrator to take charge on March 11’

A new Administrator of the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council (DGHC) will take charge tomorrow after the resignation of its caretaker Administrator, Subhas Ghising, West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee said on Monday.

Kolkata, March 10: A new Administrator of the
Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council (DGHC) will take charge
tomorrow after the resignation of its caretaker Administrator,
Subhas Ghising, West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb
Bhattacharjee said on Monday.

Jalpaiguri Divisional Commissioner B L Meena was
scheduled to take over as DGHC caretaker Administrator till
elections were held to the hill council, he told reporters in
the assembly lobby.

Earlier, Bhattacharjee told the house that he had
accepted Ghising's resignation.

Asked what would happen now, he said, "the Centre took
two years for according sixth schedule status for Darjeeling."

Asked if Ghising would be able to return to Darjeeling
now, Bhattacharjee said he hoped so as he had resigned.

The GNLF chief's rival the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha,
had barred his entry to the hills till he resigned as the DGHC
caretaker Administrator.
