Puducherry: Nominated Puducherry MLA N G
Panneerselvam (PMK) Wednesday quit his assembly membership and
resigned from the party and joined the All-India NR Congress
(AINRC), floated by former chief minister N Rangasamy.

Panneerselvam, who joined the AINRC in the presence of
Rangasamy, told PTI that he felt that under the leadership of
the former chief minister he would be able to do extensive
service to the people.

"I feel that I will have greater freedom under the
leadership of Rangasamy and hence I have joined the party
floated by the former Chief Minister,` he said.

With the resignation of Panneerselvam from the Assembly the
strength of PMK has come down to two.

He is the third Puducherry legislator to quit assembly
membership since last one month. Rangasamy and his close
confidante P Angalane had resigned as MLAs and also quit
ruling Congress on Jan 20.

Puducherry is headed for assembly elections in the next few
months.
