Karachi: Humiliated again after Lalit Modi’s denial that any IPL team had offered any contract to Abdul Razzaq for playing in IPL –III, PCB has decided to withdraw all no objection certificate given to all players who were put for the auction.

The latest move by PCB means that curtain has finally been drawn on the issue which has become a national debate. Today’s announcement by PCB clearly meant that no Pakistani player would be seen in action during the premiere event.

A statement from the board said all the NOC`s issued to players for IPL-III stand revoked.

"In future, if any player receives an invitation for participation in IPL events, PCB will decide the matter on a case to case basis after consulting relevant government authorities," the statement said.

The announcement comes on the same day that the Indian hardline party Shiv Sena said it would not allow Pakistani players to play in the IPL and IPL commissioner Lalit Modi also said that no franchise could pick Pakistani players without his knowledge and approval.

All the 11 Pakistani players, including star all-rounder Shahid Afridi went unsold in the January 29 auction in Mumbai, prompting angry reaction in Pakistan.

The auction fiasco threatened to snowball into a diplomatic row between the two countries with top ministers also being drawn into the controversy.

Notwithstanding all the positive noises being made by the Indian and Pakistani government in the past few days, IPL Chairman Lalit Modi has refuted all claims that any offer has been made to any Pakistan players post the IPL auction.

" The auction is over, there are no spots open. If someone comes in now he can only come as a replacement for a player injured for the whole season. And if someone`s been injured for the whole season and I don`t know it, no one does," Modi was quoted.
