Madrid: Dani Pedrosa will return to action after injury at the Australian MotoGP this weekend, the Spaniard said on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old needed surgery on a broken collarbone after crashing in Japan two weeks ago, and missed the Malaysian Grand Prix last Sunday when his compatriot Jorge Lorenzo secured the world title.
"I know it will be tough because the Phillip Island circuit is very demanding and the meteorological conditions could play a major role but I think it is the moment to return," Pedrosa said in a statement released by his Honda Repsol team.
"The operation went well and the plate is well secured so the problem isn`t the collarbone but the stiffness in my neck and shoulders.
"The championship is decided but hasn`t finished yet. Our objective is to hang on to second place in the rankings and to carry on working with the bike so that we are in good shape to start the (post-season) winter tests."
Pedrosa lies second in the championship with three races left and holds a 47-point lead over Italy`s Valentino Rossi, who in turn is closely tailed by Australia`s Casey Stoner and another Italian Andrea Dovizioso.
