Teen shuttler Sindhu in Dutch Open final

Teen Indian badminton player P V Sindhu inched closer to her maiden Grand Prix title after she upset top seed Porntip Buranaprasertsuk .

New Delhi: Teen Indian badminton player P V Sindhu inched closer to her maiden Grand Prix title after she upset world number 11 and top seed Porntip Buranaprasertsuk of Thailand to enter the finals of Dutch Open in Almere city.
The 16-year-old Sindhu won 21-14, 15-21, 21-13 in a hard-fought match on Saturday night to reach the finals of a Grand Prix Open for the first time in her nascent career. Sindhu had earlier defeated World No 22 Juan Gu of Singapore in the first round. Sindhu now plays World No. 19 and second seed Jie Yao of Netherlands in the finals. Incidentally, every player that Sindhu has beaten en route to the final has had a higher world ranking than her. Sindhu currently trains at the Pullela Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad and her trip to the Dutch city was sponsored by Olympic Gold Quest. PTI
