Lahore: A petition was filed on Thursday in a
Pakistan court seeking a ban on the whistle-blowing website
WikiLeaks following its release of hundreds of secret US
diplomatic cables.

Advocate Arif Gondal said in his petition filed in
the Lahore High Court that WikiLeaks? "So-called" revelations
were made deliberately to create differences among Muslim
countries and to cause anarchy in Pakistan.

"These disclosures are aimed at destroying peace in
Pakistan and defaming all institutions, like the army, and
important personalities," he said.

Gondal asked the court to impose an immediate ban on
the website in Pakistan.

It could not immediately be ascertained when the
court would take up the petition.
