Bhubaneswar: `Navratna` PSU National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) has been accorded the `Premier Trading House` award, considered as the highest status conferred by the government for the export of goods.
The status, given in accordance with the provision of the Exim Policy of the Centre, is on par with the current foreign trade policy, a NALCO release said here today.
To get the honour, a company`s export figure should be Rs 7,500 crore or more in the current year and the company should notch up similar benchmark figure (Rs 7500 crore) in the two previous consecutive terms.
NALCO has achieved the export figure of Rs 7,609.07 crore upto July 31, 2009 and showed a similar track record in the previous two years, from April 2006 to July 2008, consecutively.
The aluminium major had been been recognised as a `Five Star Trading House` since 2005 for its substantial contribution to export of aluminium metal and `calcined` alumina to various overseas markets.
The company had been making rapid strides in the field of aluminium metal exports which further went up with the commissioning of ongoing second phase capacity expansion, they said.
