Mumbai, Nov 15: Bollywood is going gay this winter with Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra starrer ‘Dostana’. The much-awaited flick by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions has all the ingredients of a Bollywood blockbuster - stunning Miami beaches, bikini babes and hunks, exotic item number by Shilpa Shetty and lot of straight and gay romance.
“Dostana is trying to push the boundaries of male bonding, which is never seen before in Hindi movies. The subject of gay bonding has been a taboo," says Karan Johar.
Set against the scenic locales of Miami, the film has super urbane look and appears to be colourful, filled with lot of fun and frolic. The story goes like this: Sameer (Abhishek) and Kunal (John) are very good friends and live life to the hilt. They are hunting for an apartment, they like a particular house but are turned down because the landlady doesn`t want two strapping young men to corrupt her young niece Neha (Priyanka Chopra). So, they pretend to be gay.
In the film, Abhishek plays a male nurse in a Miami hospital, while John is a photographer who has illegally migrated to the ountry. Priyanka, on the other hand, works with a magazine.
They are happy with the pretension until they meet the super-gorgeous Neha – both fall for her but Neha takes them as gay lovers, so remain ignorant of their feelings. And then enters Neha`s boss Abhimanyu (Bobby Deol) as the third contender and the comedy takes a new hilarious turn.
Talking about the film, Karan Johar said, “It`s fun and new. We`ve made sure not to offend any group or community. I`d never make a film that would offend anybody. `Dostana` has a great look and it`s a clean happy watch." So, it seems that there are jolly, gay times ahead for cinema-goers.
