Professional golf returns to BPGC after three years

Mumbai: Gaganjeet Bhullar, C Muniyappa, Anirban Lahiri and Himmat Singh Rai are among the top players who have entered the four-day Rs 30-lakh prize money PGTI Players Championship commencing at the newly laid Bombay Presidency Golf Club course in Chembur.
The tournament, part of the Aircel-Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), would also see in action other leading players like Ashok Kumar, Vijay Kumar and Gaurav Ghei, a media release said. BPGC`s captain Brijender Singh said that the club is to play host to a professional event after three years."We look forward to staging the PGTI Players Championship as this will be our first professional event in three years. The course is in great shape and will certainly throw up a few challenges for the top professionals of the country," Singh said. PGTI Director Padamjit Sandhu said the Tour was happy to bring back pro golf to country`s financial capital."The PGTI Players Championship presented by Bombay Presidency Golf Club is yet another landmark event for the PGTI as we bring professional golf back to one of India`s most popular courses after a three-year hiatus," Sandhu said. "We are confident that our partnership with the Bombay Presidency Golf Club will help in raising the profile of professional golf in the financial capital of the country and we look forward to a very exciting week of golf in Mumbai," he added.
