Dibrugarh, Nov 19: Prominent Surrendered ULFA
(SULFA) militant Srimanta Chetia alias Bijoy Chinese was
killed along with two others by suspected ULFA insurgents in
Arunachal Pradesh's Namsai area.
Official sources said a group of ULFA extremists attacked
Chetia and the two others at Na-Dihing river bridge, in Lohit district, when they were travelling from Kakopathar in Assam to Namsai late last night.
The three bullet riddled bodies shot at from point blank
range were recovered by the police early this morning and sent
for post mortem.
The two others were identified as another SULFA cadre
Jayanta and Chetia's driver Kamal.
The sources said Chetia had been attacked four months ago
by the ULFA for assisting the Army and police in anti-ULFA
operations, particularly in the April 10 Namsai encounter
where eight ULFA ultras were killed.
