Puducherry: National Legal Services Authority
(NLSA) has plans to set up legal aid clinics in every taluk
for providing solution to legal problems faced by people at
the grass root level, according to its Chairman and Supreme
Court Judge Altamas Kabir on Sunday.
Talking to representatives of various NGOs here, he said by
setting up such legal aid clinics people would also be aware
of their legal rights.
The legal aid clinics would be manned by para-legal
personnel and lawyers, he said.
"We should reach out to people, particularly those at the
grass root level for redressal of their grievances", he said.
He also asked NGOs in the union territory to come out with
constructive projects to promote legal literacy programmes and
legal awareness activities among the public.
