Q3 eludes Force India, Sutil to start 13th on Sunday
Adrian Sutil will start Sunday’s European Grand Prix 13th on the grid, just ahead of team-mate Vitantonio Liuzzi.
Valencia: Adrian Sutil will start Sunday’s European Grand Prix 13th on the grid, just ahead of team-mate Vitantonio Liuzzi, as Force India witnessed a disappointing afternoon with none of them making to the third qualifying session (Q3) here on Saturday.
Hispania driver Karun Chandhok will start 23rd, sharing the last row with team mate Bruno Senna.
Sebastian Vettel snatched the pole from team-mate Mark Webber as Red Bull locked out the front row with Lewis Hamilton breathing down the neck from the third place.
It was a disppointing qualifying session for Force India, espcially after they promised so much in the third free practice session in the morning.
There, Sutil came a surprising fourth, while Liuzzi was seventh.
They, however, ran out of luck in the qualifying session.
Liuzzi entered the second qualifying session as the 11th driver, while Sutil barely managed to squeeze himself among the top 15.
There, both of them were found wanting and Force India chairman Vijay Mallya did not hide his disappointment either.
“It’s been a disappointing day as we showed a genuine pace this morning and couldn’t quite deliver this afternoon,” Mallya said.
“It’s something to work on tonight and come back strong in the race tomorrow. We’ve shown good pace here before and in fact last year we started 12th and 16th and finished 10th and 12th in the race so there’s still everything to work towards,” he added.
