Rajiv Gandhi International Judo Ch`ships from Feb 20

Judokas from 10 countries including Pakistan will vie for the top honour during the 4th Rajiv Gandhi International Judo Championships to be held at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur from February 20-24.

New Delhi: Judokas from 10 countries including Pakistan will vie for the top honour during the 4th Rajiv Gandhi International Judo Championships to be held at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur from February 20-24.
Hosts India will be fielding two teams in each category, while the other participating countries include Kyrgyzstan, Nigeria, Norway, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Afghanistan. All the foreign teams have confirmed their participation in the competition, a Judo Federation of India (JFI) release stated on Tuesday.For the first time, the event will see participation from Europe and an African nation -- Nigeria, while Afghanistan will be making token appearance with a judoka in each section, the release said. The five-day competition will also be the trial event as a probable squad for the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games will be picked on the basis of Indian judokas` performance. Indian squad: Men: India A: Navjot Chana (-60kg), Manjeet Nandal (-66kg), Ramashrey Yadav (-73kg), Yashpal Solanki (-90kg), Sanjay Singh (-100kg); India B: Akram Shah (-60kg), Krishan Kumar (-66kg), Balvinder Singh (-73kg), Vikender Singh (-81kg), Vikram Solanki (-90kg), Yaima Singh (-100kg). Women: India A: Tombi Devi (-48kg), Kalpana Devi (-52kg), A Anita Chanu (-57kg), Garima Chaudhary (-63kg), Jina Devi (-70kg), Jaya Chaudhary (-78kg); India B: Janita (-48kg), N Gomti Chanu (-52kg), L Nirupama Devi (-57kg), L Brojeshori Devi (-63kg), K Devishree (-78kg).
