Roma claim close to signing striker Toni

Milan: AS Roma are close to signing out-of-favour Bayern Munich forward Luca Toni, the Serie A club`s sporting human resources manager Gianpaolo Montali has said.

"We are down to the details," Montali was quoted as saying to a leading daily. "Naturally, until you have the signature, there are no certainties in business, but with Toni we are practically there."World Cup winner Toni, left out of Italy squads in recent months, has fallen out with Bayern bosses and has been told he can leave.The 32-year-old has also been linked to Inter Milan and Chelsea, but Gazzetta quoted him as saying that "I only want Roma".
