Moscow: Russia has not found anything
unexpected in the confidential US diplomatic cables and said
it is committed to the positive development of bilateral
relations with the United States.
"As for the assessments of Russia, Russian-US
relations, there are no surprises in these assessments for
us," Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexei Sazonov said in the
first regular briefing since the leaks.
"Russia is committed to the positive development of
bilateral relations with the United States," he added.
Sazonov said much of what has been made public "is
routine diplomatic correspondence between the State Department
and US embassies.
"However, some passages arouse bewilderment and
regret," Sazonov said without identifying the passages.
In his interview to CNN`s Larry King, Prime Minister
Vladimir Putin had expressed his irritation at his tandem with
Medvedev called `Batman and Robin` and said it was aimed at
insulting one of them.
Whistleblower sites revelations also include the US
diplomats` assessment of Russia as a country with widespread
corruption involving the Kremlin and other leading officials.
