Johannesburg: The South African netball team is on tenterhooks over their participation in the 2010
Commonwealth Games in New Delhi after being set stringent requirements by the country`s sports governing body. The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee have decreed that the team will have to be among the top five in the world rankings before they can go to Delhi. The Proteas are currently ranked sixth in the world but hope to achieve the target after games against Malawi, New Zealand and Samoa in coming months. Coach Karin Strauss said a group of 15 players who have been selected were working hard to prove to the Committee that they have the mettle to take on the challenge of the 2010 Commonwealth Games. "All the members have been set objectives. If anyone does not meet the specified expectations and standards, they will be replaced," Strauss said. PTI
