Saina a whisker away from World Numero Uno rank

Saina Nehwal is just one rank away from becoming the number one badminton player in the world.

New Delhi: Ace shuttler Saina Nehwal is just one rank away from achieving the feat of being the first Indian to bag the numero uno badminton player in the world tag. According to the latest world badminton rankings, Saina is just behind current world number one Yihan Wang of China.

Earlier, just a few days after her remarkable triumph at the Singapore Open badminton championship, Nehwal climbed to her career-best third rank.

The ace Indian shuttler took a giant stride towards realising her goal of becoming the world`s numero uno player as she jumped one places to a career-best second in the latest international rankings.

Saina`s rise follows back-to-back title triumphs at the India Open Grand Prix and the Singapore Open Super Series respectively.
By virtue of the consecutive titles earlier this month made a significant upward movement in the chart and is just behind China’s Yihan Wang.

Saina`s previous best ranking was a fifth position which she attained in March this year.
