New Delhi: Desperate to be back in the court
to prepare for the World Championships starting next week,
Indian ace shuttler Saina Nehwal today resumed training under
coach Pullela Gopichand in his academy in Hyderabad.
A mild chicken pox had threatened her participation in
the World Championship but having almost recovered from the
illness, Saina today rushed to the academy in the afternoon.
"I had a talk with the doctor and he said if I was
feeling good then I can straightaway start my training. So I
resumed my training today, played some matches," Saina told
agency.
"There is no complication now. I felt all right after the
training, in fact I enjoyed it. It is so boring at home and I
am happy that I could start training today," she added.
Asked if Gopichand had given her a new training schedule,
Saina said she was happy with whatever he decides for her and
she is looking forward to giving her 100 per cent in the World
Championships.
"I know he would ask me to do some light training for a
couple of days and then heavy training for the next 2-3 days.
He doesn`t need to give me any schedule, whatever he will ask
me to do, I will just follow that," said the Arjuna awardee.
Her father Harvir Singh said Saina was desperate to be
back to the court and just couldn`t control herself, though
Gopichand and her doctor Hariprasad had earlier planned for a
Wednesday start to her training.
"Gopi had earlier planned for a Wednesday start to her
training but Saina was so enthusiastic that she just couldn`t
control the urge to be back to the court," Harvir said.
"After I came back from office, I found that she had
already left for the training in the afternoon," he added.
He said Saina has recovered and is fit to play the World
Championships.
"All the rashes are almost gone, barring one or two and
by God`s grace she is fit now. She can take bath now and on
her doctor`s advice she had a shower last night after six
days," he said.
