Johannesburg: The FIFA World Cup 2010 finale kick started with a great animation projection on the football field that depicted the various aspects of Africa. It was followed-up with a native energy filled song and then came on Latin singer Shakira singing and dancing the World Cup anthem ‘Waka Waka’. She had fans bouncing in their seats as South Africa said farewell to the 2010 World Cup in pulsating fashion.

Shakira and the South African Afro-fusion band Freshlyground danced their way through one last rendition of the cup`s theme tune — "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" — after a lights show, fireworks and military flyover at Sunday`s closing ceremony.

Also performing was Grammy Award-winning cappella group Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
South Africa president Jacob Zuma addressed the world saying, "When we won the rights to host the World Cup, we knew that working together we would be able to succeed. However, what has happened so far, has exceeded our expectations. That is because of the role played by our people, the South Africans. They are the stars and champions of this tournament."

Not long before the ceremony, Nelson Mandela`s grandson said the 91-year-old anti-apartheid icon would greet fans before the World Cup final between Spain and the Netherlands.

Just like the opening ceremony, the stadium had a fly-by from the South African version of the Red Arrows.
The performance was a visual delight that used lasers, animation, lighting and creativity.
