Six young footballers selected to attend Bayern Munich camp

German football club FC Bayern Munich on Tuesday held a clinic for young footballers here and selected six of them to attend the FC Bayern Football camp in Germany.

Kolkata: German football club FC Bayern Munich on Tuesday held a clinic for young footballers here and selected six of them to attend the FC Bayern Football camp in Germany.
The clinic was attended by 96 young football enthusiasts out of whom six winners were selected to be flown to the FC Bayern Football School. A team comprising of iconic players like Andreas Brehme, Paul Breitner and Hansi Pfulger from FC Bayern were in the city to carry out the clinic, which was held at the CCFC Club here. The winners- Ram Chettri, Suman Rai, Donborlang Nongkynrih, Jacob Lalrawngbawla from Shillong Lajong and local boys- Sanchayan Samadder and Simanta Murmu were selected based on various skills which are essential to the game- speed, accuracy, dribbling etc. Besides being tested on these attributes, the kids also got a chance to interact with the stars who shared their tips and wisdom accrued from years of experience on and off the field. The six youngsters would be taken to Germany for the two-week programme in August next, said Andreas Gellner, managing director, adidas India, which is one of the sponsors. Of the 96 young football enthusiasts, 10 each were from the sponsors (adidas, Lufthansa, Audi and Allianz) and the remaining from West Bengal Football leagues. Earlier in May 2008, a camp was organised which also featured former German goalkeeper- Oliver Kahn. Out of the 44 kids who were present during the camp in 2008, five young winners were flown to the FC Bayern Football School in Germany. PTI
