Somdev qualifies for Mason Masters event

Somdev Devvarman qualified after making short work of local wild card Tim Smyczek.

Mason: Somdev Devvarman qualified for singles main draw of the ATP Western and Southern Financial
Group Masters after making short work of local wild card Tim Smyczek in straight sets. The unseeded Indian won the second and final round 6-3, 6-2 to qualify for his second successive Masters event. Last week Somdev had entered the Toronto Masters as a Lucky Loser and then lost to Gael Monfils in the first round. Somdev has drawn American wild card Robby Ginerpi as his first round opponent and if he manages to beat him he will be up against world number six Nikolay Davydenko, who got a bye. By making the main draw, Somdev has already pocketed 25 ranking points. India`s doubles specialists Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna will play in the men`s doubles event along with their respective partners. PTI
