Surender wins 10,000m gold at National Open Athletics
Long distance runner Surender Singh
today bagged his second gold of the event when he clocked
29:19.40s to win men`s 10,000m event at the 49th Open National
Athletics championships here today.

today bagged his second gold of the event when he clocked
29:19.40s to win men`s 10,000m event at the 49th Open National
Athletics championships here today.
The day witnessed a keen tussle between the athletes of
Railways and Services.
Services` Surender had also won the 5000m gold on day one
of the event. He was followed by Sandeep of Railways
(30:03.66s) and BC Tilak of Services (30:05.14s).
In the absence of Ravinder of Delhi, C Hamza of Services
scored an easy win in the 1500m event. Hamza clocked 3:42.87s
ahead of his teammates E Benazer (3:48.02) and Rajan KK
(3:48.94) who secured the silver and bronze respectively.
Railway bagged all the medals in the women`s 1500m event,
as Sushma Devi clinched gold by clocking 4:22.86s and was
followed by Bindu SR 4:24.08 and Priyanka Patel 4:25.70s.
The gold of 10000m women came with a comfortable win for
the Kavita Raut who finished the race by clocking 33:57.40s.
Her arch rival Preeti L Rao was far behind with a timing of
36:06.86s.
Lalita Babar took the bronze for Railways with 37:20.01s.
Railway have taken their medal tally to 57 (22G, 21S,
14B). Services are in the second spot with a total of 18
medals including six gold, six silver and six bronze.
Kerala are placed third with four gold.
