Sydney: Australian batsman Cameron White believes his stint in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for his franchise Deccan Chargers has helped him to regain his lost form.
White had a terrible 2011-12 summer, which began with his omission from the Australian limited overs squad.
His ‘wasted’ summer ended not only with his future international career under threat, but he was also axed as Twenty20 captain and dropped from the squad too.
However, following his spell with the Deccan Chargers, White’s form is back after 18 months.
During the IPL, White scored 479 runs for Deccan Chargers.
While a record of 479 runs at 43.55 is phenomenal in Twenty20, even more important for White was his rate of 150 runs per 100 deliveries.
“When you`re batting - especially in Twenty20 cricket - the best feeling is when you get to a stage where … it`s the later overs and you have no fear. You just go out and try and hit every ball for a four or six really,” a daily quoted White, as saying.
“Even when I was out of form during the Big Bash that was the one situation I was looking for, when you could get your team over the line and things might change,” he added.
“When I was batting and was in form I just felt ``This is the way it should have been working``; the summer has been such a waste, because as a batsman the more balls you face - in any format - that`s when you feel you``re getting better, no matter how much time you spend in the nets,” he said.
