Astana (Kazakhstan): Indian junior pugilists Lalitha Prasad Polipalli (48kg), Manish Kaushik (52kg) and
Sandeep Kumar (57kg) continued their winning streak, reaching the quarterfinals of the second AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships on Monday. Prasad started the proceedings for India as the Indian beat England`s European Junior Championships silver medallist Luke McCormack 15-10 in the light fly weight category. Prasad, the reigning national champion, took an early lead of two points after the opening three minutes of play. McCormack tried hard to get back in the game in the second round but Prasad held on to the lead. In the third round Prasad, a silver medal winner at the Invitational boxing tournament in Kazakhstan last year, stretched the advantage to five points before sealing the match at 15-10 in the end. Prasad will now take on Erik Petrosyan of Armenia in the quarter-finals on Wednesday. In the light bantam weight division, Manish pulverized his opponent Sultan Zhanyshev of Kyrgyzstan in a one sided contest. PTI
