Kolkata: Former Indian football captain I M Vijayan on Tuesday said he is parting ways with the `Calcutta
Football League` premier division club Southern Samity `in an amicable manner`. "The results have been unsatisfactory with Southern Samity. I am used to getting flak (as a player in past)," the three-time Indian Player of the Year quipped before reporters at the Calcutta Sports Journalists` Club here. "There is nothing new to criticsm. If a team loses, the coach gets the brickbat. It`s best for me to step down," Vijayan said adding, "I don`t want to create controversy and make any hasty comment since I know my team (Southern Samity) did not do well". Stating he might come back if a good offer came his way, Vijayan said "this is the early stage in my coaching career and I have a long future ahead. I will go back to Kerala in a couple of days and if I get a good offer, I will come back again." Vijayan, who recently acquired a coaching license from the AFC, was in an one-year contract with the newly-promoted CFL premier division club. Under Vijayan, Samity won three matches, drew one, while they suffered four losses to be on 10 points in the 17-team league. PTI
