Vijender, Dinesh to participate in ‘Fight Night’ against Eng

Olympic bronze medallist Vijender Singh (75kg) and Commonwealth champion Dinesh Kumar (81kg) will lead the Indian challenge in a bilateral boxing tournament against England from September 12 to 14 in Hyderabad and Pune.

New Delhi: Olympic bronze medallist Vijender Singh (75kg) and Commonwealth champion Dinesh Kumar (81kg) will lead the Indian challenge in a bilateral boxing tournament against England from September 12 to 14 in Hyderabad and Pune.

Martin Stead, Liam Cameron and Hosea Burton will be the Englsih boxers in the inagural ‘Lagaan Cup’.

The Indian team will also feature nine-time national champion Dilbagh Singh and Olympian Diwakar Prasad. The first series will be held in Hyderabad on September 12 followed by the second one in Pune on September 14.
The Percept group, which is currently the marketing partner of the Indian Boxing Federation, will also promote bilateral boxing tournaments between India and other countries as well as events across malls, public areas, and road shows.

The event has been formatted in 90 minutes with four exhibition boxing matches between amateur boxers interspersed with entertainment performances.
The fights will follow international amateur boxing rules and will be approved by IBF. The Lagaan Cup would be an annual affair.
