Viveka’s death: Gautam is innocent, pleads mother
Gautam’s mother came to her son’s rescue by stating that there was no relationship between Gautam and Viveka.
Mumbai: Just a day after local Police ruled out any foul play in the death of super model Viveka Babajee, who was stated to be depressed following a tiff with her boyfriend Gautam Vohra, a few days before she was found dead in her apartment here, Gautam’s mother came to her son’s rescue by stating that there was no relationship between Gautam and Viveka.
Meanwhile, Police questioned family members, friends and relatives of the model but was yet to quiz her boy friend Gautam Vohra. She said that Gautam and Viveka knew each other just a month before the latter’s suicide. She also added that Gautam is innocent and should not be linked to Viveka’s suicide.
Viveka committed suicide by hanging herself in her apartment at Continental Towers in suburban Bandra on Friday.
A mobile phone, a laptop, a diary and a few letters addressed to Gautam Vohra were among the various things recovered from her residence, said Khar Police Station Senior
Inspector Mangesh Pote.
"Post mortem report received from Cooper Hospital states that the 37-year-old model died as a result of hanging. There appears to be no foul play," he added.
Police sources said they would go through the diary and last phone calls she had made and received.
"We have asked the mobile service provider to provide details of all her phone calls. A few days back, Viveka had a heated argument with her boyfriend. Her friends have told us that she appeared depressed for the past few days due to some personal problem," another police official said.
"According to her friends, Gautam and Viveka were dating for the past few months. We are yet to call Gautam for questioning," the official said.
The model had tried to commit suicide earlier as well, he added.
Viveka`s family members, friends and relatives have been called for questioning, police sources said, adding no suicide note was found in her apartment.
The model featured in several well-known advertisements, including those for Kamasutra condoms. She debuted in the film `Yeh Kaisi Mohabbat` opposite Sharad Kapoor and Deepak Tijori in 2002 and acted in a few Hindi and South Indian films.
Viveka originally hailed from Mauritius and entered the Indian modelling scene at the age of 26.
She was engaged with director Rohit Jugraj and was to tie the knot with him but the marriage plan did not come about.
