New Delhi: Reacting to the results of the five State Assembly elections, the BJP said that the mandate reflected an anti-UPA mood. Addressing the press on Tuesday, BJP national president said, “As far as the BJP is concerned, we are satisfied with the results. We have won in Goa and our alliance has come back in Punjab.”
While congratulating the Mulayam singhYadav’s win in Uttar Pradesh, Nitin Gadkari admitted that the party was disappointed with the results in UP. “The results are less than what we had expected,” he said.
“Polarisation between two parties can be a reason for our poor showing in UP,” Gadkari opined.
On the poor showing by the Congress overall and in UP in particular, the senior BJP leader said, “The Congress’ results have been below par.” Taking a dig at the general secretary of the Congress party, Rahul Gandhi, Gadkari said that because the scion of the Gandhi family was the face of campaigning in UP, the results have been embarrassing for them.
