New Delhi: Indian football team winger Steven Dias said that the team will miss experienced midfielder Renedy Singh in its upcoming engagements.
Renedy did not find favour with new coach Armando Coalco who gave the axe to quite a few senior players, including Bhaichung Bhutia. "Renedy is a class apart and we will definitely miss him. The juniors are doing very well and very hardworking, but they are not in Renedy`s class," Dias said after a training session at the Ambedkar Stadium. "We need to give them the credit as they have done exceptionally well in the camp. They have great future and it will only help Indian football on the whole," Dias said. Asked about the three-week camp that concluded today, Dias said they have been trying out different combinations and the team is slowly adopting to Coalco`s style.Defender Gouramangi Singh felt the important thing is to stick to the coach`s instructions and contribute to the team`s success. "It`s a kind of a new team, a new coach. I don`t think the game has become slower. We have a new set up with a mix of young and experienced players in the squad. We are sincerely working hard and its getting better day by day.” "I believe everyone has successfully adapted to the new style of play. Most of the clubs in the I-League like Dempo, Churchill Brothers, East Bengal and Mohun Bagan almost play in same form and it has helped the team immensely," Gouramangi said. India play Maldives in Maldives on July 10 and Qatar at the Al Sadd Stadium in Doha on July 17. The team then proceeds to play the World Cup Qualifiers against UAE on July 23 (away-match) in Abu Dhabi and then in Delhi (home-match) on July 28. The team will be leaving for Maldives tomorrow night. PTI
