Kolkata: Bhaichung Bhutia might have signed for East Bengal after getting interim relief from the arbitrator but Mohun Bagan today maintained that the chapter was not closed and they would fight till the end."We are not coming out of the issue. We will take legal
step and also refer the matter to FIFA. The chapter is not yet
closed and we will fight till last," Mohun Bagan secretary
Anjan Mitra said.
He said their next course of action would be announced
tomorrow.
The India captain was given an interim relief from the
Mohun Bagan suspension and was declared a free player by AIFF
arbitrator Amarendra Sharan.
In the interim relief on September 26, Sharan had said
since he would need some more time to submit his report, he
decided to allow Bhutia to play with a rider that if the
decision goes against him then the Indian skipper will have to
sit out the entire season and pay back the club the advance
received.
Mohun Bagan had suspended Bhutia for six months without
pay on disciplinary grounds after he missed an exhibition
match and some practice sessions last season.
Bhutia had appealed against the ban and in the meantime
entered into an agreement with his former club East Bengal.
