Wild card Sipaeya ousts seeded Mithun

Sunil Sipaeya of Haryana shocked third seed Mithun Murali of Tamil Nadu in straight sets 7-5, 6-4 to enter the men`s singles second round of the Rs 10 lakh Videocon All India Open Tennis Championship.

Mumbai: Former Davis Cupper and wild card
entrant Sunil Sipaeya of Haryana shocked third seed Mithun
Murali of Tamil Nadu in straight sets 7-5, 6-4 to enter the
men`s singles second round of the Rs 10 lakh Videocon All
India Open Tennis Championship.

The jinx for seeded players continued as second seed
Aditya Madkekar, nursing a shoulder injury, joined Murali on
the sidelines when he conceded the match to state rival
Shabaaz Khan after trailing 1-4 in the opening set.

In women`s category, Gujarat`s unseeded Vaibhavi Trivedi
shut out eighth seed Shruti Archita from Maharashtra 6-4 6-0
to enter the quarterfinal.

In anothert match, fifth seed Zainab Sajjad of AP beat
Haryana`s Ankita Bhatia 7-6(4) 6-4 to earn a shot at TN`s
Sharon Paul, who blanked Maharashtra`s Sayli Bilhare 6-0 6-0
in the quarter final.
