Indore: World wrestling champion Sushil Kumar has said that he will throw up a tough challenge in 2012 London Olympics.
Sushil (27), who got engaged to Savi, daughter of his coach Satpal Singh on November 8, said that he was eyeing the London Olympics. "I have almost recovered from my shoulder injury. After a fortnight I will start my practise with a focus on the Olympics," Sushil, who came here to attend a wrestling competition, told reporters last night."I will try to give an excellent performance in the Olympic ring," said Sushil, who had won bronze medal in 66 kg weight category at Beijing Olympics. He said that he was happy that wrestling on mat was gaining momentum in the country where traditionally the fights used to take place in soil. Sushil said that the fights on mats will brighten the Indian wrestlers` chance to excel in the international competitions."There was no dearth of wrestlers in the county," he said. To a question, he said that the players should keep off from doping. Sushil, who is getting married to Savi on February 18, said he was entering into the wedlock according to his family`s plan, adding that his family members were taking care of his marriage preparations. "My entire focus was on wrestling," he said adding "I will just reach the venue dressed up like a bridegroom." Sushil hails from a middle class family, and gets full support from his family which helps him in wrestling. "I will get this support after marriage too, he said. PTI
