Yuki storms into second round in ITF tournament

Second seed Yuki Bhambri stormed into the second round with a straight set victory while fourth seed Rohan Gajjar crashed out of the USD 15,000 ITF Men`s Futures tournament at the DLTA complex here on Tuesday.

Bhambri scored an easy 6-2, 6-0 win over compatriot Vinayak Sharma in a first round match on the second day of the tournament. However, it was curtains for Gajjar who lost 6-7(4), 6-2, 3-6 to China`s Yu Chang in an opening round match. Vivek Shokeen also met with the same fate after losing to Chinese Taipei`s Liang-Chi Huang 4-6, 1-6. In other singles matches, top seed Rik de Voest of South Africa was stretched to three sets by Vijay Sundar Prashanth before winning 6-1, 3-6, 6-1. Third seed Ranjeet Virali Murugesan outplayed wildcard Sai Kartik Nakireddy 6-0, 6-4 while seventh seed Karan Rastogi shrugged off a fightback from Sundanwa Sitaram to win 6-2, 7-6(3). PTI
