New Delhi: Author Chetan Bhagat created a flutter of sorts on the internet when on Sunday he tweeted that said he intended to join the Congress party.

"Couldn’t take it anymore. The country needs to be fixed. Joining Congress. Will be supporting their Karnataka campaign. With RG, let’s make a better India. Need your blessings in what is a big move for me," he wrote on social media site.

However, Bhagat also wrote - details here - at the end of the tweet and attached a Wikipedia page regarding April Fool's Day.

While some social media users got his prank, there were some who took him seriously.

April 1 is marked as April Fools' Day by playing practical jokes and spreading hoaxes. Those who fall prey to the jokes and hoaxes are called April fools. Some newspapers, magazines, business houses and companies too, play a prank on their unsuspecting readers and customers. However, they usually explain them in some way or the other by putting a disclaimer or something.
