Goa, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh by-polls: Bawana records 45% voting, Panaji 70%, Nandyal 80%

Voting is underway in four assembly seats in New Delhi, Andhra Pradesh and Goa on Wednesday. The bye-elections are being held simultaneously in Bawana in the national capital, Nandyal in Andhra Pradesh and Panaji and Valpoi in Goa. 

BJP leader and Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is contesting from the Panaji assembly constituency. The counting of votes will take place on August 28.

In Nandyal assembly constituency, the by-elections witnessed long queues when polling booths opened at 7 am. Over 2.19 lakh voters are eligible to exercise their franchise at 255 centres. Following the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) controversy, the Election Commission will use the Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) For the first time.

About five months after he was sworn in as Goa Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar is contesting the Panaji assembly by-poll.
