UP doesn't need an 'outsider' like PM Narendra Modi: Priyanka Gandhi
Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav are from UP, she said.
Rae Bareli: Member of Congress' first family, Priyanka Gandhi, on Friday campaigned for the Congress-Samajwadi Party alliance in Rae Bareli.
Addressing an election rally in Maharajganj, Priyanka trained her guns on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Referring to his recent statement that he was the adopted son of Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka said that there is enough youth in the state to work for the state.
“The Prime Minister said Uttar Pradesh has adopted me and I will work for the state's development. But does Uttar Pradesh need to adopt anyone for its development?” she said.
“Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav are from here. All youth of the state can become a leader and work for the development of the state, there is no need for an outsider,” Priyanka said.
Priyanka went on to question the track record of the Prime Minister as an MP from Varanasi.
“What has he done for Varanasi in the last three years? nothing,” she said, adding that her father Rajiv Gandhi had developed his constituency Amethi in a way befitting of a PM.
Scoffing at PMModi’s promises to women of the state, Priyanka said that making them stand in queues (demonetisation) was the real atrocity against women.

She also requested the electorate to join hands and help the SP-Congress combine win the elections.
Priyanka was accompanied by her brother and Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi during the campaign tour of the district.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi represents Rae Bareli in the Lok Sabha, while Rahul is MP from neighbouring Amethi. Sonia has stayed away from poll campaign so far.
Assembly constituencies under Amethi and Rae Bareli go to polls in the 4th and 5th phase of polling in the state on February 23 and 27.
Congress has fielded Aditi Singh, the daughter of five time MLA Akhilesh Kumar Singh, from the Rae Bareli Assembly constituency.
Akhilesh Singh, a local strongman, has passed on the baton to his 29-year-old daughter Aditi, who is pitted against BSP candidate Shahbaz Khan and BJP's Anita Srivastava.
In Unchahar in Rae Bareli district, Congress has fielded Ajaypal Singh and SP Manoj Kumar Pandey, besides in Sareni where Ashok Singh (Congress) is fighting a "friendly match" with Devendra Pratap Singh of SP. Both seats fall under Sonia's Lok Sabha constituency.
Congress will be contesting in a total of 105 seats in UP, with its ally Samajwadi Party contesting from 298 out of a total of 403 seats.
