Jammu-Srinagar highway reopens after landslide

A landslide blocked the 300-km Srinagar-Jammu national highway in Ramban district and was cleared in two-and-a-half hours to ensure smooth movement of traffic, officials said today.

Jammu: A landslide blocked the 300-km Srinagar-Jammu national highway in Ramban district and was cleared in two-and-a-half hours to ensure smooth movement of traffic, officials said today.

The landslide occurred at 06:25 am and blocked the arterial road in Ramsu area of Ramban district, an official of the traffic department told PTI.

The highway is the only all-weather road linking Kashmir to rest of the country.

Work on cleaning the highway started immediately, he said. By about 8:45 am traffic resumed and passenger vehicles were plying from both sides.
