Bengaluru shocker: 20-year-old man sets mother on fire for denying money to buy alcohol

BENGALURU: In a shocking incident, a 20-year-old man allegedly set his mother on fire after she refused to give him money to buy alcohol in Bengaluru.

The woman immediately rushed to a hospital where she is undergoing treatment. 

The 20-year-old accused, identified as Uttam Kumar, is absconding.

According to news agency ANI, the shocking incident took place at Sadashivanagar area in Bengaluru on December 6 after the mother-son duo had a heated argument over the money.

Fearing that Kumar will use the money to buy alcohol, his mother refused to give him money.

Enraged by this, the accused, allegedly poured petrol on her and set her on fire.

The woman's husband came to her rescue and rushed her to a nearby hospital.

She had sustained burn injuries on her face, hand and chest.

In a similar incident, another youth from the hi-tech city was booked for beating up his mother after a video showing him thrashing his mother with a broom went viral on social media.
