India vs South Africa, 4th ODI: As it happened...

After Virat Kolhi's hundred, Indian bowlers set-up a 35-run win over the South Africans to level the series 2-2. Proteas skipper AB de Villiers played a gem of innings, but his ton was not enough against an inspired Indian bowlers. The fifth and series decider ODI will be played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on October 25.

Mohit Sharma on in the final over of the match. Kagiso Rabada and Imran Tahir guarded their wickets with utmost care, while Indians celebrated a deserving win. Four runs from the over. Mohit's figures: 10-0-48-1.

India won the match by 35 runs to level the series 2-2. The deciding fifth ODI will be played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on October 25.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar into his tenth over. Three runs conceded. His figures: 10-0-68-3. He leaked plenty of runs, but took those crucial wickets towards the end to assure India the win, and stay alive in the series. South Africa need 40 runs from 6 balls.

Mohit Sharma into the attack, and Kagiso Rabada hit the first ball for a four. He sure can bat. Nice looking cover drive. Then, Rahane missed a run-out chance, with his throw from the backward point missing the stumps. Six runs from the over.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar double-strike hastened India's winning surge in Chennai. He first removed Aaron Phangiso off the third delivery, with Axar Patel completing the catch at short third man.

Bhuvnewshar Kumar, who has had a poor spell so far conceding 50 runs in seven overs, returned for the 45th over. And the over started with a two, with a run-out claim referring to the third umpire. It was followed by another couple.

Then, out of the blue, AB de Villiers walked back. Bhuvi produced a slower bouncer, getting faintest of top-edge nick with MS Dhoni taking a low catch behind the stumps.

Despite the physical strain, AB de Villiers has changed the gear. Harbhajan Singh did enough too cut a good shot at the covers, restricting it to a couple.

A cramping AB de Villiers is keeping the South African hopes. He ran two twos off the first two deliveries of Harbhajan Singh's first two deliveries. After a leg bye, Phangiso took a single. Finally, India managed to effect a run-out, thanks to a risky direct throw from Ajinkya Rahane. Mohit returned to the attack, and Morris tried to steal a single following a LBW shout. Then, Rahane hit bulls eye with a direct throw at non-striker's end. AB de Villiers, who needed to have majority of the strikes, rushed for the non-existent single, ending the 41-run partnership.

Then, the very next delivery, AB de Villiers survived a lofted shot with the Indian fielder missing the flight of the ball at backward point. In the fifth delivery, AB got a hit on his helmet with a bouncer, resulting in a single. He kept the strike with another single.

MS Dhoni persisted with Bhuvneshwar. No signs of Suresh Raina, despite the tell-tale signs of spinners doing the tricks.

AB de Villiers took a single off the first delivery, exposing Chris Morris. But Morris managed to fend off the remaining deliveries, including a wayward shot which almost cost his wicket. A single, and to the delight of Dhoni, Morris kept the strike.

Farhaan Behardien survived a thick edged, caught behind with umpire S Ravi ignoring India's claim. Bowler Amit Mishra and MS Dhoni were already celebrating, but had to content with a wry smile from the umpire.

Then, in the fifth delivery, Ravi raised his finger to a loud LBW shout from the Indians.  Behardien shook his head, not happy.

India have had their chances in the last couple of overs, but could only watched South African batsmen surviving those close chances. Mohit Sharma started his seventh over with length ball, which Farhaan Behardien played towards the backward point, and Ajinkya Rahane missed his throw to effect the run out. Three runs from the over and Proteas required 156 runs from 19 overs.

Amit Mishra continued for his fifth over. And off the first delivery, South Africa survived a close run-out call, with AB de Villiers and Farhaan Behardien making a mess of a possible single. de Villiers, then, took a single in the third delivery. Then, in the fifth delivery, Behardien lofted a skier, and amidst calls of 'catch it', Bhuvneswhar Singh failed to read the flight. Two runs for South Africa, for the risk. A single to complete the 4-run over.

In between, the two Proteas batsmen also completed their fifty-run partnership.

Mohit Sharma kept his it simple and quite. Conceded only a single to keep the pressure from his end. AB de Villiers took three deliveries to take a single, then Farhaan Behardien defended the remaining three deliveries for nothing.

Another good over for South Africa. Eight runs from the over, to bring up their 100. Farhaan Behardien took a single off the first delivery, then AB de Villiers played out three dots before getting a three off a thick edge. Mohit Sharma removed dangerous Hashim Amla off the first delivery of the sixth over. The ball arrived little late for the Proteas batsman and he ended up offering comfortable catch at midwicket, where Shikhar Dhawan jumped a bit to complete the sending off.

Poor, poor start the over for Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Back-to-back fours to start, including an overstepping no-ball, resulting in a free-hit, which resulted in two runs. Quinton de Kock was at his best.

After conceding 10 runs off the first two legal deliveries, Bhuvi, thanks to some good fielding, managed to end the over relatively well. 14 runs from the over.

A good over for India with Bhuvneshwar Kumar conceding only three runs, all singles. In between, there was also a little mixed-up between the two Proteas openers in the third ball. But India failed to capitalise from it.

Virat Kohli, who scored a brilliant hundred, failed to take field. He was limping towards the end of his innings.

Mohit Sharma shared the new ball with Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and he alse went for some good runs.

Hashim Amla started with a single off the first delivery, then de Kock took a double. After two dot balls, the left-handed opener took a single off a overstepping no-ball. Off the free-hit, he hit his second boundary, a cracking whip through the covers. A dot to finish the 8-run over.

Dale Steyn produced a near perfect last over to dismiss to restrict India under 300. MS Dhoni, once again, failed to capitalise on a good start and returned making only 15. He was caught at midwicket by AB de Villiers off the penultimate delivery.

India lost steam towards the end. Dale Steyn produced a superb over to followed up Rabada's four-run over. Dhoni and Kolhi settled with singles, despite all their swings and heaves. Five singles off five balls. Then a dot ball to end the over.

Kagiso Rabada, expectedly, returned. He toyed with Indian skipper so far in the series. Dhoni started with a single, followed another single by Kohli. Four runs from the young pace bowler. Impressive.

A limping Virat Kohli has taken into the Imran Tahir. After blocking the first delivery, the Indian No.3 lofted the spinner out of the park. Kohli then trickled down the other end for a single.

MS Dhoni missed a full toss, settling for a single, off the fifth delivery. Then a no-ball, resulting in a free-hit. Kolhi failed to capitalised on it, taking a single only. 11 runs from the over.

Good over for South Africa with Dale Steyn in operation. Nine runs, including a wide, and the wicket of Suresh Raina.

Finding hard to find the boundary against South Africa's premier bowler, the Indian duo resorted to running. Five runs. Then, off the penultimate delivery, Rains offered a simple catch at midwicket, where AB de Villiers completed the catch.

AB de Villiers dropped Suresh Raina off Imran Tahir's bolwing. A googly from the leg break bowler meant Raina was only lofting the ball without much elevation. Proteas skipper called his take, and dropped at mid-off. In between, India have ran two runs. That happened in the second delivery of the over.

Good over, nonetheless, for the visitors as it leaked only six runs.

Raina also completed his fifty with a single with a single off the last delivery, his 36th in ODIs. His scoring sequence in the series is: 3, 0, 0 and 50*. Some time coming.

Virat Kohli has controlled the Indian innings like old times, and in the process, helped other batsmen around him play their bits.

Dale Steyn, in his seventh over, faced an utmost task of restricting the scoring rate which in the last five overs has climbed over at an rate of eight. He started well with a dot and a single, before Raina smashed a straight drive with horizontal bat for a four. Seven runs from the over. On par.

AB de Villiers finally brought in his strike bowler Imran Tahir, and the leg break spinner started with control, until, Virat Kohli launched the fourth delivery over the long off boundary for his fourth six today. The over resulted in nine runs as India continued to pile runs in the slog overs.

Chris Morris returned for his ninth over. And a relatively quite one, considering how the Indian duo in the centre have increased the scoring rate in the last couple of overs.

Raina started with a well run three, thanks to a Hashim Amla wayward throw. Five singles followed to make it a eight-run over. And with that Virat and Raina stitched a 100-run partnership in 89 deliveries. Good show from two of India's most established batsmen.

Another busy over in Chennai. Chris Morris, who is playing his first match of the ODI series, returned for his seventh over. Raina started with a double, then, produced a superb straight drive for his second four of the innings.

Two more singles, and India added another eight runs to the total.

What was way to bring up his 23rd ODI hundred, and the first of the series. Aaron Phangiso managed a dot ball to start his eighth over, but the Kolhi lofted the second one, coming down the wicket, over the long on fielder, who tried to pluck jumping.

The over yielded nine runs, as another three singles followed.

Kagiso Rabada returned to attack, and after four good deliveries which resulted in two singles, conceded a six off the fifth delivery. Raina lofted the fullish delivery from the young South African over the long-on rope. It was his first six of the day.

India consolidated their middle overs play with a 50+ partnership between Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina. In the last five overs, they have scored 29 runs.

The 36th over started with Kohli taking a single off slow left arm spinner Aaron Phangiso, Raina responded with a single of his own, before the Delhi batsman, who is in the nineties, defended the remaining four deliveries.

Rabada is back as Proteas need another wicket. He tested Kohli with two short balls and the India vice-captain was in some trouble on both occasions. Rabada bowled a length ball to Rahane who launched it towards long-on for a one-bounce boundary. 8 from the over. India in a very good position and if Rahane can hit a few more boundaries, these two can take India to a very formidable total.

Superb knock once again from India's most consistent batsman over the years. The fourth ball was wayward, down the leg side and Rahane worked it fine past fine leg for a boundary. The next ball had width on the off side and Rahane worked it past third man for another boundary.
