Madhya Pradesh school teachers ask students to clean toilets, trigger row

Damoh: Teachers of a government school in Madhya Pradesh have come under scanner for allegedly forcing the students to clean toilets.

The teachers have, however, denied the allegation.

According to ANI, the parents of the students alleged that their wards were forced by some teachers to clean toilets in Madhya Pradesh`s Damoh district.

A group of students too alleged that they were forced by their teachers to clean the toilets.

"When my daughter was coming home to have lunch, they asked her to first clean the toilet and then go," one of the parents said.

However, the school management has flatly refuted the allegation and said no such work was done by students.

"The students were not asked to clean the toilets. A cleanliness drive is going on in school and labourers are cleaning and whitewashing the school building," a teacher said.

Meanwhile, Hemant Kherwal, DPC, Damoh said that they would take action against the concerned teachers if the allegation is right.

"I have been told that a cleanliness drive was going on in the school. Children were not made to do anything like that. If it is found that they were made to do so, then an action will be taken against people responsible," said Kherwal.
