Mumbai: Mumbai Congress president Sanjay Nirupam on Thursday said the `Matoshri' bungalow in suburban Bandra should be turned into a memorial of Bal Thackeray, as there are reports that Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray is building a bigger house next to it.

`Matoshri' has been the residence of Thackeray family for the last several years.

"...If Uddhav Thackeray is shifting with his family to another house, let Matoshri be Balasaheb's memorial instead of the iconic Mayor House," Nirupam tweeted.

Media reports have said that Uddhav Thackeray is constructing a new house next to Matoshri in Bandra's Kalanagar area.

The BJP-led Maharashtra government earlier this month got passed a bill in the Legislative Assembly, paving the way for construction of the late Shiv Sena founder's memorial where Mayor's Bungalow in Shivaji Park stands now.
