Mahindra & Mahindra Farm Equipment sector has a Vision of delivering ‘Farm Tech Prosperity’. In order to do this, Mahindra has transformed its tractor Sales and Service Dealerships into Mahindra Samriddhi Centres. These Centres offer a wide variety of services to the Indian farmer (Soil testing, Agri Counselling, Result & Method Demonstrations, Agri Clinics etc) They also tie up with local Agri experts, KVKs (Krishi Vigyan Kendras) and Agri Universities, in order to bring information, advice and ultimately prosperity to the farmers.
Under the aegis of Mahindra Samriddhi, Mahindra and Mahindra is launching the ‘Mahindra Samriddhi India Agri Awards 2014’
The idea of instituting these awards is to recognise purposeful contributions made by individuals and institutions, in the field of agriculture that enhanced farm productivity and drive prosperity.
There are seven categories for the awards. Only six are open for nominations from the general public (From April 2012-October 13). They are:

- Krishi Prerna Samman (Indian Farmer of the year - female) 2014
- Krishi Yuva Samman (Indian Farmer of the year – youth) 2014
- Krishi Sansthan Samman (Public Sector Organisation of the year) 2014
- Krishi Shiksha Samman (Agricultural University of the year) 2014
- Krishi Sahyog Samman (NGO/SHG of the year) 2014
These awards will be judged by an illustrious jury of significant personalities in the field of Agriculture in India. It will be televised nationally in association with Zee News, Mahindra’s Media partner in the awards.

What is Mahindra Samriddhi?
In 2008, Mahindra transformed its first dealership to a Samriddhi Centre. It is a unique initiative in the industry in that it provides complete agri solutions to the farmer, by going beyond tractors to deliver agri services. These services include soil and irrigation water testing, productivity demo farms, Agri counselling, seeds and crop care products and many other facilities for the farmers to use. As of today, there are 140 Samriddhi centres across India.
What is the objective of the Mahindra Samriddhi India Agri Awards?
The Mahindra Samriddhi Agri Awards 2012 is a platform that will recognise purposeful contributions in the field of farming by conferring Certificates and Cash Awards for meaningful work done in the field of farming. It is co-presented with the Zee News network and the Awards Ceremony will be broadcast nationally. The dates during which nominations are accepted are 10th November 2011 to 10th December 2011.
How can I participate?/ nominate myself/ nominate someone?
You may go to your nearest Mahindra tractor dealer or Samriddhi Centre. With them are the nomination forms for the India Agri Awards. You can fill up the nomination form as per the instructions, attach a photograph and drop the filled form at the drop box at the same location. There will be persons there to assist you in filling the form.
You will be receiving an official letter of communication in which the form will be attached.
Nominations for a Public Sector Organisation is to be sent to the Deputy Director General, Extension, ICAR, New Delhi
Nominations for a KVK must be sent to the Director of Extension (DoE) of the parent institution (Agricultural University it falls under)
Nomination forms for an NGO can be downloaded online.

What is the award/prize/prize money for winning?
There are two types of awards. If you win the National level award you get a citation for the work that you have done and a cash prize of Rs 2,11,000. If you win the Regional or the Runner Up Award, you get a certificate for the work that you have done and a cash prize of Rs 51,000

The last date of nominations is December 10th 2011. Nominations start from Novemeber 10th 2011
What are the documents that I need to attach?
No documents are required to be attached, only a photograph of the farmer is needed. In case the farmer is shortlisted for the screening phase, identity proof, age proof and land holding documents will be asked for.
In case of Non-farmer categories, two, single page case studies are to be attached.
What is the process of Judging these awards?
There will be a sub jury panel who will pick the best nominations among the nominations received. These farmers or institutes will be investigated and the data that they have been given checked. If any data is incorrect or misrepresented, the nomination will be disqualified. The selected nominations will then be given to a panel of illustrious judges who will then select the winners and runner’s up on the basis of the criteria provided to them.

What is meant by new practice?
By new practice, we mean any new activity that you have undertaken within the selected period that has lead to an increase in yield per acre, a decrease in cost of cultivation per acre, or a decrease in time spent per acre over the previous year.
I do not know how many farmers have followed my new practice. What should I do?
Do not worry; give your best guess on how many farmers have followed your new practice.
I do not know the average yield of my village. What should I do?
Do not worry; give your best guess of the average yield in your village.
Which crop should I select?
Please select the crop in which your new practice has had a greater impact. This means the crop in which the practice has led to a greater yield per acre, or a lesser cost in cultivation per acre.
Which two years should I select?
Select the year in which you first started the new practice and the year before that. You are permitted to select years as far back as 2009.
What photocopies should be attached?
Unlike last year, you don’t have to attach any additional documents. However, you can attach photographs of certificates that you have received as a result of the new practice that you have implemented.
What is meant by the criteria ‘Measurable Productivity Enhancement’?
This is our way of measuring how much your farm produce has increased from last year. There is a table in the nomination form, which if you fill, will give us information about this data.
What is meant by the criteria ‘Use of Innovative Farming’?
We wish to give the award to farmers who have done something new to increase the productivity or quality of their farms. The award will be given to those farmers who have used some new technology, or utilised some new practice in order to better their farm.
What is meant by the criteria Sustainability?
We wish to judge good ideas and innovative technologies in farms by how long they will last. If it is an idea that can be used again and again, then more priority will be given to that nomination.
What is meant by the criteria Scalability?
If an idea that works in a small land size, can also be used in a large land size, then more priority will be given to that idea.
When will I come to know whether my nomination has been selected?
By the month of February the nominations will be selected. If you are selected we will contact you then.
Who are the judges who will give out the award?

Can I fill a nomination form on behalf of someone else?
Yes, you can fill a nomination form for someone else. However they will have to put their photograph and photocopies, as well their signature or thumbprint.
I cannot write. What should I do?
You do not have to worry. A friend can fill the form for you, and you only have to put your thumbprint over the place where it says signature. Otherwise you can take the form to your nearest Samriddhi Centre or Mahindra Dealership and someone there will help you to fill the form.
I do not have proof of age/proof of identification/ proof of landholding, can I still apply?
No, although we are not asking for the documents at this stage, we will need them later. If you do not have any one of these documents you are not eligible to apply
If I win, how will I go to Delhi?
Mahindra Farm Equipment sector will inform you if you are among the winners. They will provide the tickets to travel to Delhi and pay the hotel and food expenses during your stay in Delhi. They will also provide you with Travel back from Delhi to your home.
Where will the Awards ceremony be held?
It is proposed to be held in Delhi. If the venue changes for any reason we will let the winners know.
