New Delhi: Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani on Thursday said that RIL will offer free domestic voice calls and rock-bottom data prices on its new Jio mobile phone network until the end of the year, an ambitious roll-out plan that whacked shares of established telecoms firms.

Ambani told shareholders at the oil and gas giant`s annual shareholder meeting that Jio would be available for free from September 5 to December 31 as it continues network tests.

Earlier Jio SIM was available only to its employees, and later bundled with Reliance's own Lyf-branded smartphones.

Now, all Samsung and LG smartphones users could walk-in to a Reliance Digital store and procure a Jio SIM.

If you want to migrate to Jio, you can use mobile number portability (MNP) to do that. MNP enables telephone users to retain their number when changing from one carrier to other.

For the next 5 days (as per regulation) you will continue to be with current operator.

On the 6th day you can remove the old SIM and insert your new Reliance SIM.
