Nokia comeback: What the Finnish smartphone maker must do to regain lost market!

New Delhi: The once-and-still-loved Nokia is all set to make a comeback in the early part of 2017 with an Android-powered phone.

Once the world's largest phone maker, the news of the comeback is already creating waves, much to the excitement of everyone, especially fans.

However, it won't be an easy comeback for the Finnish phone-maker considering that the market is now dominated by Korean tech giant Samsung and US' Apple with tough competition from other device makers such as Xiaomi, Lenovo, Oppo with their high-end features and low pricing.

So, what must Nokia do to regain lost ground or find a fitting place in the market?

We believe that Nokia give a serious look into these areas in order to make a classic comeback.

SCREEN DISPLAY:

Size does matter for smartphone customers. Keeping that in mind, Nokia must not go less than a 5-inch screen display with a minimum 1280×720 pixel though 1080 x 1920 pixel with 401 ppi is definitely better. Consumers will high it hard to accept anything less than a high resolution smartphone.

OPERATING SYSTEM:

Android 5.0 Lollipop is passé, Android 6.0 Marshmallow is in though Adroid 7.0 Nougat has arrived but is not available with most the devices yet. So, keeping this in mind, Nokia should at least come with the Marshmallow operating system.

PROCESSOR:

A powerful perfomance matters considering that smartphone users these days not only use the devices for calls but almost anything and everything – games, mails, news, etc.

So, consumers would expect a minimum Snapdragon 650 processor and a hexa/octa-core processor which delivers up to 1.8GHz clock speed. (Redmi Note 3, one of the best low-budget smartphones, uses this same features and is considered a beast by many)

RAM:

Considering that the new Nokia Android phone would be loaded with features to attract consumers, a minimum 3GB RAM is also expected so that it could make the device a powerful perfomer.

MEMORY:

16BG to 32GB a minimum with capacity to expand up to 128GB. Anything less than 16GB will not be acceppted by fans – simple as that.

CAMERA:

Minimum 16MP rear camera with all the features such as auto focus, dual flash, etc, and an 8MP front-facing camera for selfie lovers. A selfie flash would be just be a classic bonus.

BATTERY:

Considering most smartphones consume a lot of power, a minimum 3,500 mAh battery would be great to power the device for a whole day on average usage. The bigger the battery, the better the changes for the Nokia phone.

PRICE:

One of the most important factor for any smartphone to survive in the market – the pricing. The rise of Xiaomi, Lenovo and others have been mainly due to clever pricing.

Keeping that in mind, Nokia should price their android-devices very reasonably. Considering that they should come up with a phone with features that are mentioned above, Rs 12,000-15,000 would be a great pricing and give tough competition to others. Moreover, it should look for that area in the beginning and eventually go up to high-end feature smarpthones.

But having said that, one hopes for a good device from Nokia come 2017.
