Chicago, Dec 01: A day after calling Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and expressing deepest condolences over the tragic loss of innocent lives in Mumbai terror attacks, US President-elect Obama on Monday said that he is "steadfast" in support of India's effort to catch those behind attacks on the financial capital.
On November 28, US President George W Bush, who is at forefront of the ‘war on terror’, expressed grief over the loss of lives in the wake of attacks in Mumbai, in which atleast 183 lost their lives including five Americans.
He further promised to fight extremists wherever they are.
In a separate statement on the same day, Obama had expressed sorrow for the victims of the attacks and said the militants who staged the assault would not defeat India's "great democracy" or the global coalition arrayed against them.
"The United States must stand with India and all nations and people who are committed to destroying terrorist networks, and defeating their hate-filled ideology," the President-elect had said.
