New Delhi, Dec 22: Realising the growth potential of
the Legal Process Outsourcing (LPO) industry, IGNOU on Monday
launched a PG diploma programme in the field, expected to
generate 15,000 jobs in the next two years.
The LPO industry, an addition to the expanding range of
high-value outsourced service sector, at present addresses a
fraction of the global legal off-shoring industry but industry
estimate that this market would hit the USD 4.5 billion mark
by 2010.
The programme has been jointly developed by IGNOU's
school of law and legal talent management house Rainmaker, and
would start from February 2009. The programme is meant for
lawyers.
"As the LPO hires are clearly on the rise, tipped to
touch 15,000 over the next two years, this distance-learning
based programme would lay emphasis on offering quality study
material.
It would give aspirants from across the country easy
access to world-class study materials to boost chances in
building a career in the Indian legal industry," said Prof S D
Rao, Director of IGNOU's school of law.
The course content would cover professional English
proficiency, skill, personal effectiveness and enterprise
development, virtual intelligence method and legal education
and proficiency, he said.
Leading academicians and the brightest of brains in
the legal world have lend their expertise in developing the
programme.
The courses would be delivered through a combination of
online and distance learning techniques and through
Rainmaker's e-learning platform.
