Pune, Dec 23: Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray on Tuesday
said that it is high time the Indian leadership replaced its
verbal duel with Pakistan with concrete military plans to
destroy terror mechanism operating from its soil and that a
decisive war is the only credible option left after the Mumbai
attacks.
"Pakistan has killed thousands of Indian citizens since
the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts with a proxy war in which even the
country's supreme symbol of its sovereignty -- Parliament has
not been spared. To preach Pakistan on what action it should
take to curb terrorism as is being done by Pranab Mukherjee,
is nothing but a travesty," Thackeray commented in an
editorial in the party's mouthpiece 'Saamana'.
Thackeray targeted Congress for "allowing and ensuring"
survival of Afzal Guru, convicted in the Parliament attack
case and said, "His life appeared to be more important than
those killed in the terrorist attacks in the country".
He alleged that the death sentence of Guru was "in limbo
because of the consideration of Muslim votes". The editorial
said it that it was naive to expect Pakistan to dismantle terrorist
camps on its territory.
Referring to the presence of Anil Kakodkar, Chairman,
Atomic Energy Commission during talks in the South Block, the
editorial said India needs to overcome the "fear complex" on
account of Pakistan's nuclear capability and should put full
faith in the competence of the three wings of defence forces.
