New Delhi, Jan 18: The rift between Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt and his sister Priya seems to be widening with each passing day.

Sanjay, who recently joined Samajwadi Party and is set to contest from Lucknow Lok Sabha constituency, on Sunday, lashed out the Congress MP saying she was not a part of Dutt family anymore.

Sanjay on Saturday had however, tried to douse the fire created by the war of words saying he had forgiven Priya.

Priya Dutt had expressed her disappointment over Sanjay Dutt's decision to associate himself with Samajwadi Party.

“If Sanjay wanted, he could have got a Congress ticket at the appropriate time. My father would have never associated with the Samajwadi Party (SP). For the first time since he died I am thankful he is no longer alive to see this ignominy,” Priya was quoted by a newspaper earlier.

The Congress MP had also reportedly aired her disappointment with the actor’s wife saying: “Manyata is my brother’s wife. It’s his decision whomever he wants to marry. We have always supported all his decisions."

In a free society, a woman should have the right to keep or change her surname after marriage. Do women in India have this right? Seems like aspiring politcian Mr Sanjay Dutt does not believe so. Another uneducated, unqualified, close-minded, politician with a criminal record joins the ranks - just what we least need, especially in UP!

Every woman or human being has the right to maintain the identity from birth. It is man who has made these rules favoring them. Why don’t the men change their surnames after marriage? It is actually safer for the woman to be protected, As in case even if she takes divorce or husband leaves her, she has nothing to worry has her original identity is with her. But for the husband with a changed name he cannot fool any other girl and spoil other girl’s life. I feel it has been high time the world is male dominated now it should be the turn for the woman`s world where males should move to girl’s house after marriage and it is always better for a girl to serve her own parents then to serve the unknown in-laws after marriage.
I have not changed my own identity as I am a professor before marriage and called as ‘Chabria madam’, how can overnight I accept my husband’s surname. I asked the same to him, will you change?. He said “No”. And he understood what I am trying to say, he saw that practically I am correct. So,I have maintained my name and our one child has fathers name, and we have plans for the second child to have my name. Everything is based on the true bonding and nothing in the name. My passport has my maiden name and att the last page of it I have added his name.
Let the man thing by putting himself in female’s shoes. It the tolerance of the woman that the world is at peace.
Jaihing,

Sanjay has a point: after Kanyadaan, Priya belongs to her husband`s family and should not meddle in the Dutt family`s matters. Let her fight election under her husbands name!
