Hamilton demands McLaren cut on sponsors London: Racer Lewis Hamilton has said he will agree on a new contract only if McLaren reduces his off-track workload from sponsors.

Hamilton and his teammate Jenson Button are committed to more sponsors’ days than their major rivals – around 50 days and over 100 appearances, a daily reports.

“When I sign the contract again with McLaren they are going to be shocked at how many days they are not going to be able to make me do. I will be doing a lot less work. There is definitely a danger of burn-out,” Hamilton was quoted as saying.

“So you have to make changes. I definitely won’t be working the whole period of time before the next Grand Prix at Silverstone that is for sure. I will have at least five days to prepare in the future,” he added.

Hamilton’s build-up to the British Grand Prix has been dominated by appearances for the team and its major sponsors Vodafone, Tag Heuer and Hilton Hotels since the last race in Valencia two weeks ago.

Hamilton has, racked up just four victories this season compared to the 11 scored by Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel.
